We are excited to announce that Dr. Hanna Martens, Principal Investigator of our lab, has been awarded a prestigious Start-Up Grant from the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation to support her project, "The Regulation of Immunosenescence and its Implications on Healthy Aging."
This work will focus on understanding how age-related changes in immune function and chronic low-grade inflammation — known as immunosenescence and inflammaging — drive the onset and progression of age-associated diseases. Using cutting-edge single-cell multi-omics, transgenic mouse models, and organoid culture systems, Dr. Martens' research aims to unravel the systemic cellular interactions that underlie healthy versus pathological aging.
By integrating these insights through a systems biology approach, the project seeks to identify new therapeutic strategies that promote resilience and healthier aging outcomes.
Congratulations, Dr. Martens!
